Preparation for your Internship

International Students

ESIP
  1. Study Permit
    • You need to make sure your study permit is valid during your internship (May 2018- August 2018). Please visit CIE for details about Study Permit extensions (scroll down to the middle of the webpage).

  2. Co-op Work Permit
    • Processing your co-op work permit may take a couple of months, so be sure to start as soon as you can! It is crucial to have your co-op work permit finalized before your internship starts.
    • Firstly, pick-up your confirmation letter from our office. You will receive an email once they are printed and ready.
    • Secondly, visit CIE for the other documents you need to prepare and next steps. They will be your first point of contact to prepare your co-op work permit.

Accepting an Offer
  1. Acceptance Letter
    • Fill-in the Acceptance letter
    • Submit: via Career Portal
      • Login to the Career Portal
      • Click the “Upload a Document” blue button
      • Include your Full Name
      • Make sure the file type is “PEY Acceptance form”
  2. Employment Contract/Offer Letter
    • To supplement your acceptance form, submit a copy of your employment contract.
    • Submit: via Career Portal
      • Login to the Career Portal
      • Click the “Upload a Document” blue button
      • Include your Full Name
      • Make sure the file type is “Employer Contract”

Before your Internship
  1. Transition into the Workplace document
    • Please fully read through the Transition into the Workplace file
    • This file covers:
      • Your student status during the internship
      • Transcript updates
      • Taking Courses on your Internship
      • Internship placement + Incidental Fees
      • What happens after your Internship
      • Financial Aid, Scholarships, and Insurance
      • Tax Forms
      • OHIP Coverage

Students Working outside of Canada

  1. Safety Abroad Waiver
    • After attending the Safety Abroad Workshop and registering your information in the Safety Abroad Database, you will need to submit this waiver.
    • Send the signed waiver to Sooin Park (sooin@ecf.utoronto.ca)

During your Internship

You will be required to submit evaluations and papers during your internship.

PEY
  1. Midterm Evaluation
    • Download the midterm evaluation here
    • Deadline: 4 months into your internship (September – December, depending on your start date)
    • Submit: via Career Portal
      • Login to the Career Portal
      • Click the “Upload a Document” blue button
      • Include your Full Name
      • Make sure the file type is “Midterm Evaluation”
  2. Final Evaluation
    • Download the final evaluation here
    • Deadline: August 1, 2018
    • Submit via Blackboard
  3. Final Paper
    • Deadline: August 1, 2018
    • Submit via Blackboard
      • Document file + instructions will be provided in an email closer to deadline
