Tri-campus National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Date: December 4, 2020

Time: 10:00 am – 11:30 am

Theme: Actions within the Intersections: Past, Present and Future

The U of T National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women Organizing Committee invites you to the 2020 event in commemoration of the 1989 École Polytechnique Massacre. Every year the U of T community commemorates the national tragedy and also reflects on the many ways all women continue to harm and violence, in particular Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirted folx, Black woman, trans women, in addition to other racialized women.

This year’s virtual event features a fireside chat with U of T students, staff, and faculty discussing the most relevant issues on violence against women and their intersections. Featured from UofT Engineering are Dean Chris Yip, civil engineering student and President of the National Society of Black Engineers UofT Chapter Alana Bailey, along with many other engineering graduate and undergraduate students. This is an opportunity to also share the concrete actions we can take in our communities to question, call out, and take action to end violence against women. The event is organized by the Sexual Violence Prevention and Support Centre and the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering in partnership with Hart House.
